Protective effects of humic acids on UV- damage in human lens epithelial cells

Summary

Humic acids evidence a UV-protective effect on skin cells. Lens epithelial cells are UV-sensitive and UV-dosages above threshold induce apoptosis. With the aid of a human lens epithelial cell line, established at the Department of Physiology (MLU Halle), different synthetic and natural humic acids are tested for their cytotoxicity and protective effect against UV damage in human lens cells.
